The president of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), One of Luisa announced to the members of the Assembly of Owners the decision not to be re-elected to the position for the period 2023-2026, however, he will continue to exercise his functions until the next meeting to be held in May.

During 2022, the different categories of Mexican team they have suffered setbacks that have drawn strong demands from fans, from not qualifying for World Cup tournaments to being eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World Cup in the first round.

The president of the FMF was not present during the appointment of the Rodrigo Ares de Parga as Director of National Teams. The event that caused the most talk was the absence of Yon de Luisa during the presentation of Diego Coke as the new tricolor strategist, which shows the dissatisfaction with the decision taken.

The owners’ meeting analyzed this decision taking into account the fact that De Luisa is part of the organizing committee of the World Cup 2026 between Mexico, United States and Canada.
