The last few hours have been busy for the Royal Family of Denmark. Beyond receiving this week the kings of Spain in the Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, a striking news has jumped around one of its most illustrious members: Prince Frederick. The son of Margrethe II, heir to the Danish crown since 1972, was spotted in Madrid in the company of a relatively well-known woman in the panorama of the Spanish heart: Genoveva Casanova.

The Mexican actress, ex-partner of Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, was identified as Federico’s walking companion in the area of the Retiro Park and the Prado Museum, in photographs that have not yet come to light. Some images that put back in the front row of the news a woman with a lot of television presence, having participated in various contests in recent years. Even so, she soon ruled out any kind of link with Federico.

“I categorically deny the claims that suggest a relationship of a romantic type between Prince Federico and me. Any such claims are not only completely untrue, but misrepresent the facts in a malicious manner. This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take the necessary steps to protect my right to honor, truth and privacy,” the actress said in a statement.

Born in Mexico in 1976, Casanova has an outstanding role in her artistic resume: the participation with her then partner, Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, in the filming of the movie Los fantasmas de Goya (Goya’s Ghosts). Both were put under the orders of Czech director Milos Forman, who passed away in 2018. The three met after a visit by the filmmaker to the Prado Museum, where he was dazzled by the painter and later by Genoveva and her partner.

A delicate life

In fact, the connection came about thanks to screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière, who had previously met Casanova at a screenwriting workshop at the Buñuel Center in Calanda. The Mexican woman and her partner invited the director to their impending wedding, and Forman accepted on the condition that they both participate in the film. The relationship lasted until 2009, and from then on her mood plummeted considerably, categorizing the divorce as a hard part of her life.

Currently, her life has been marked by a delicate state of health, despite having been able to participate in programs such as MasterChef Celebrity. How is your health? Much better, but I’m still not one hundred percent. Sometimes I’m short of breath. It was a tremendous scare. And it helped me to think about many things in my life. I feel very different. I feel more at ease with the world. I see everything with more relativity. And I take advantage of the little things much more”, she said in a recent interview.
