The violence in Zacatecas does not give up. For some time now, the state has been going through a delicate crisis that includes disappearances, armed attacks on homes, fires and clashes between organized criminal groups.

However, in the midst of the complex situation that the entity is experiencing, a controversy has arisen that has as its center the mayor of Jerez de García Salinas, a town located near the border with Jalisco.

Humberto Salazar Contreras-member of Morena- was filmed singing a narcocorrido dedicated to Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán with a band at a nighttime event. The recording quickly went viral on social media and sparked anger and outrage among hundreds of users over the wave of violence the entity has been going through for some time.

The video shows the official performing a song by the band the addiction where the former head of Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo”. This fact would have been a day after several aspiring beauty queens gave up participating in the pageant.

Similarly, the Carnival parade, in which more than twenty organizations were to participate, was also canceled, according to the Sun of Zacatecas. The musical group “La Auténtica” joined the demonstrations and announced that they would not participate in “La Jerezada”, an activity related to bullfighting.

Shortly after the controversy, the mayor uploaded a video in response to attacks from public opinion, noting that the recordings were posted online “dishonest”tarnishing the image of his commune, and especially endangering the integrity of his family.

It was through his Facebook account that Humberto Salazar explained that the material that has been reproduced on social networks and in the media was recorded a year ago in the Tetillas community, thus dismissing the charges against him.

As a representative of a government i can’t be silent before the insults of political adversaries, those who have led to the crisis of insecurity and poverty in our dear Jerez. That today they bring nothing, but they distort everything, criticize and destroy”, underlined the mayor.

“The tambora was playing, I like the music, but I don’t know the songs, I don’t know them. My life as a doctor has always been transparent. It pains me to realize the rottenness of some who call themselves career politicians, those who orchestrate black campaigns, who take advantage of a position and the people,” the mayor said.

The song titled “JGL” was in the “Top 10” as one of the most listened songs in Mexico, “Top 50 General” in “Monitor Latino”, “Top 3 in Guatemala” and the first place in Honduras, Ecuador, Nicaragua.

The song, as its title with the initials of the drug dealer suggests, is a kind of dedication to the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, who is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison in the United States.
