No one can deny the furor aroused by the implementation of the Artificial intelligence with tools like ChatGPT. The level of accessibility and ease of use it offers is incredible and with a huge level of affirmation. This product was created by Open AIcompany founded by Sam Altman (CEO), Elon Musk among other references in the artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning industry, where Microsoft there YCombiner they invested.

In my role as an engineer, university professor and entrepreneur, I was struck by what could be the impact of this technology in different aspects of society, and in particular in education, which, reinforced by the pandemic, has been digitized. But what does that mean for ChatGPT? The data engine and the algorithms that train models. The more data we have, enriched by digitization, the more knowledge we will make available to continue to train these models.

In the educational teams in which I participated, I always had the premise of taking partial exams with the “open file” and ask students to solve problems apply critical thinking according to the aspects they were learning throughout the course, having at their disposal all the necessary knowledge to make decisions and justify them, which allows us to assess what criteria they could apply, since, during their work in as a professional, information will be just a click away, as “open folder”. Following this reasoning, I looked up the last set we took from the ITBA, and ran it through ChatGPT… guess what the result was.

He got a 7. In other words, he nailed it perfectly and obviously didn’t take my subject. The partial consisted of designing a digital solution for a Pre-Pay Low Cost mobile only, where we explained the job and asked the students to design the Technological architecture. In short, professionals will now not only be one click away from knowledge but also from decisions, which change the rules of the game.

As a teacher, I think ChatGPT should raise the bar for us teachers, and it would give us a lot tools to facilitate learning. You can help us respond quickly to student questions. In many cases, students may have questions outside of class hours or when the teacher is unavailable. ChatGPT can answer these questions immediately and help students progress in their learning. It can also be a useful tool for teachers in lesson planning and preparation. The model can be used to generate personalized teaching materials tailored to the needs of each group of students.

But if we want to see the B side, we can think that the excessive use of ChatGPT by the students during the process, and the exercise in practical works, can bring the decreased creativity and independence of thought students, and the lack of precision and relevance of the answers generated by the model.

Our challenge in education is how do we enhance learning with these kinds of tools and integrate them, making sure that anything that comes from a trained model can’t be correct, and we use it to improve our decisions, and for the process to be understood the potential, Three paragraphs in this column were written by ChatGPT. Can anyone know which ones? I doubt.
