Venezuela detected, in the last 24 hours, 1,786 more than covid-19, which is the highest number registered so far, exceeding the figure of this Saturday (1,607), which closes the worst week of the pandemic in the country, reported this Sunday the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez.

“The last 24 hours have been the day with the most cases registered in Venezuela, 1,779 community cases, undoubtedly the highest peak since the pandemic arrived in our country “, Rodríguez explained in a meeting with President Nicolás Maduro broadcast by the Venezuelan state television channel (VTV).

To these cases, seven more are added “imported”By travelers who arrived from Mexico (3), Colombia (2), the Dominican Republic (1) and Turkey (1).

Added to this weekend’s infections are those of Monday, when the Venezuelan authorities detected 1,288 new infections, the highest number so far, on Tuesday (1,206), Wednesday (1,348), Thursday (1,254) and on Friday (979).

Thus, this week 9,468 new cases have been detected of the 164,516 that the Venezuelan authorities have located since the beginning of the pandemic.

The state with the most new cases this Sunday, according to data released by Rodríguez, is Miranda, which is home to part of the Caracas metropolitan area, with 327 new infections.

Behind are Anzoátegui (278), Caracas (276), Nueva Esparta (217), Monagas (160), Yaracuy (80), Falcón (59), Carabobo (59), Aragua (55), La Guaira (44) , Guárico (34), Delta amacuro (27), Portuguesa (26), Apure (26), Cojedes (26), Bolívar (26), Barinas (25), Zulia (18), Sucre (13), Amazonas (2 ) and Lara (1).

On the other hand, the Executive Vice President explained that, in the last 24 hours, 15 more people died from covid-19, which is the second highest figure after that registered this Saturday (18).

That number, in turn, surpassed the previous record, which was recorded this Friday (14), a figure slightly higher than that of last Wednesday and Thursday of this week, when 13 people died.

Those days surpassed the record of 12 people who lost their lives to covid-19 on Monday and Tuesday, 24 in total, which marked the highest number so far, equaling August 13.

Thus, this week 97 people have died of the 1,644 who have lost their lives to covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in Venezuela.
