Uruguay this Sunday registered a new record of positives of covid-19 adding 3,855 new cases and reaching 117,757 confirmed since the pandemic began in the South American country, according to the daily report of the National Emergency System (Sinae).

In addition, this Sunday there were 30 deaths from cases linked to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus between 30 and 95 years old and there are already 1,101 people who lost their lives due to this disease.

The last record of cases had been on April 2, when 3,380 new positives were detected.

Although the Sinae report initially indicates that 14,086 analyzes were carried out this Sunday and 2,237 new cases were detected, to this are added 1,618 that were reported out of date by the laboratories.

Of the 2,237 cases, the worst department (province) was again Montevideo as it registered 1,054, followed by Canelones with 313 and Rivera with 164.

At this time, in Uruguay there are 25,502 people who are suffering from the disease, of which 393 are in intensive care.

The daily report of the Uruguayan Society of Intensive Medicine highlighted this Thursday that there are currently 626 occupied beds out of 877 operative ones, which represents 71.3%. Of that total, 48.8% correspond to patients with covid-19.

Regarding vaccination, 717,787 people have already been inoculated with the first dose of Coronavac or Pfizer, while 67,972 have already received the second dose. In this way, there are already 20.47% of the country with the first part of the vaccination and 1.94% completely immunized.

In addition, this Sunday the first 48,000 doses of the vaccine from the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical AstraZeneca arrived in the country, which Uruguay receives within the Covax mechanism, from the World Health Organization (WHO) and it is expected that this Monday the health authorities indicate to which sector of the population they will be destined.
