LONDON.- Boeing 777 planes with engines like those of the aircraft that suffered an incident in mid-flight in the US on Saturday will not be able to enter UK airspace, British Transport Minister Grant Shapps announced on Monday.

The minister announced that it is a temporary measure and that the United Kingdom will closely monitor the situation, after one of the engines of a United Airlines Boeing 777 caught fire while flying and after taking off from the American city of Denver, in Colorado, bound for Honolulu, Hawaii.

“Following the problems this weekend, Boeing B777s with Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 series engines will be banned from entering UK airspace. We will continue to work closely with the UK CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) to closely monitor the situation, ”Shapps tweeted.

The Boeing company has recommended to suspend the operations of the aircraft of the model 777 that are in service and that have engines of the type “Pratt & Whitney”.
