The authorities of Vietnam, where the million-dollar scam was, announced that they are in search of those responsible

The emotion that the World Cup arouses in millions of people is something almost indescribable. For this reason, millions of users pay large sums of money to be able to watch the games live and direct, but not always everything goes as desired.

In this case, in Vietnam, hundreds of people were scammed into buying plans to watch the World Cup but actually ended up watching simulated matches from a video game: FIFA 23.

Although it seems hard to believe that so many people were victims of this modality, the quality of the internet in Vietnam is quite low, so it was very difficult for them to detect fact from fiction.

Apparently the users were trying to take advantage of an offer in which, through YouTube, the matches would be seen live and direct, but in the end they ended up being scammed by a network that hoped to make a profit on the platform with the views achieved.

The criminals updated the goals of the Qatar World Cup in real time and scored in the exact minutes so that people would not suspect the trick.

As if that were not enough, the broadcasts featured narration and commentary in the local language and were also explicit with the title of the video on YouTube, where words such as “live” or the names of the teams involved appeared in the title.

To date they have not been able to find the culprits but the authorities in Vietnam have already announced that they are searching for those responsible.
