They captured the suspect in the murder of a journalism professor in La Plata

There DDI of La Plata caught a suspect in a crime who had escaped in the province of Tucumán. The homicide took place in the capital of Buenos Aires on December 14. Since that day, the alleged perpetrator has been fugitive. After heavy investigative tasks, he was located in the north of the country and ultimately captured.

It is Jorge Martin Carneirowho is suspected of having entered the home of Silvio Peroni, 56-year-old professor at the Faculty of Journalism of the National University of La Plata (UNLP). According to official information, the current inmate entered the house located at the intersection of 26th and 29th streets, with the intention of stealing.

Once inside the property, Carneiro fought with Peroni, who defended himself against the thief’s intrusion. In this context, the teacher was injured by at least one stab wound in the abdominal area and died. Personnel from the 4th La Plata Police Station who arrived at the house found the professor without vital signs.

Thus, the case was left in the hands of the prosecutor. Matias Almiron, head of UFI No. 8 in La Plata, who ordered the local DDI to pursue the murderer. The first information that reached the detectives’ ears was that Carneriro, before being identified, had left the university professor’s house and entered another address, located a few blocks away, to change clothes.

In this second house in which he entered, the suspect took an old couple hostage: he tied them up, stole their belongings and clothes to escape. So Carneiro left this last address on foot and fled to Ensenada.

With this information, La Plata DDI detectives began examining security cameras until they were able to identify him. RAMFor his part, he was an old acquaintance of Justice. He loaded with 12 causes where he was arrested. The first dates from 2000 for attack and resistance to authority. Then they appear in the different registers theft and sexual abuse.

Thus, prosecutor Almirón requested his capture for the crime of aggravated homicide by criminis causa, that is, to kill to hide another crime. Investigators continued on their way.

Through street data, surveillance and analysis of evidence, detectives located Carneiro in the province of Tucuman. They immediately notified the police in that province. In a joint effort, it was then that they found the suspect, who upon arrest showed a false documents.

In this way, Carneiro ended up in a dungeon. Now, prosecutor Almirón hopes he will eventually be transferred to take an investigative statement for Professor Peroni’s crime.

On the day of his assassination, the Faculty of Journalism and Social Communication of the UNLP published the following statement on its website for the crime of the teacher: “We regret the death of the teacher Silvio Peroni. We accompany and embrace with deep pain the family, friends, colleagues of the professor of this house of studies”.
