They arrest 27 migrants who tried to arrive illegally in Puerto Rico

A group of 27 undocumented immigrants, 22 men and five women, of unknown immigration status, were arrested this Monday morning in waters near Puerto Rico while trying to reach the Caribbean island illegally.

According to preliminary information from local authorities, agents from the Maritime Unit of the United Rapid Action Forces of the Puerto Rico Police in Aguadilla were carrying out a surveillance, when at 04:30 (08:30 GMT) and six nautical miles from the neighborhood Punta Borinquen de Aguadilla, a boat intervened.

The 27 undocumented immigrants were traveling in the ship, described as homemade in wood, blue, 20 feet (6 meters) long and with two outboard motors.

This is the second intervention with undocumented immigrants trying to reach Puerto Rico illegally since yesterday, Sunday, 54 people -47 men, 5 women and 2 minors- were detained by federal and local authorities near Jobos beach. of Isabela (northwest).
