Netflix docuseries reclaims what happened three decades ago
The comedy-drama is an adaptation of the comic book of the same name written by Gerard Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance, and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. The story begins on October 1, 1989 when 43 non-pregnant women gave birth simultaneously in different parts of the world. The eccentric billionaire Reginald Hargreeves takes an interest in the fact and adopts seven of these children to make a team of superheroes.
Years later, Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Ben and Vanya – now adults – meet again at their adoptive father’s funeral and, surprisingly, there comes Five (who was thought to be dead since his disappearance more than a decade ago). Their mission will be to warn them that the end of the world is fast approaching and that they will have to stop it before it destroys everything in its path.
The Umbrella Academy focuses on the Hargreeves’ family relationship and how they still have unhealed wounds after all. In 2022 the third season was released and the brothers had to face another apocalypse in an alternate reality where they were replaced by Sparrow Academy.
