Classes in Ica are suspended due to heavy rain.

There are more cities continuing to postpone the start of classes 2023 after the heavy torrential rains that fell on the coast of Peru, which generated significant flooding and even caused the collapse of many educational centers in the state.

Faced with this situation, which jeopardizes the integrity of students, teachers and administrative staff, the Directorate of Education in Ica indicated that the start of the school year has been postponed to March 20.

“The DREI in coordination with the Local Pedagogical Management Unitsorganizes the suspension of the start of the school year until March 20, and the directors of the public IIEE must reschedule the calendar,” reads the official document.

Besides, the THREE highlighted the report presented by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi) predicting average rainfall in nearby towns on the northern coast.

“Having regard to weather warning No. 44 “Rains on the coast and the Sierra del Sur” of the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi) dated March 10, forecasting rains of low and medium intensity until March 14″presents the drawing.

“Taking into account the preliminary report N 047-2023-Mod Operations – COER Ica of the Regional Government of Ica, which indicates that rains occurred on March 10 in the provinces of the Ica region, affecting the population and its means subsistence”.

It must be taken into account that this measure only affects students, because the idea is that teachers continue their training and continue their role of preparing their class hours.

“The suspension is only applicable to students, and the supervisory, teaching, auxiliary and administrative staff must comply with their work within the IIEE (…) Similarly, the IIEE officials are urged to remain vigilant, vigilant and to take the measures to protect the integrity of its students and teaching staff,” the text concludes.

This measure is not only for Ica, since a few days ago it was announced that in various northern cities and in the metropolis of Lima, said start of classes 2023.

“Tumbes, Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque and Áncash, the postponement of classes had already been decided. Puno announced it before.
