Haydee Suárez, in her interview with GlobeLiveMedia (Gastón Taylor)

(From Santa Rosa, La Pampa) Haydee Suarez Ulloa, 60, says, “I like boys.” Perhaps the sentence does not express everything. She has 15 grandchildren, but she is also the grandmother of the boys who attend the picnic area of the Río Atuel neighborhood in Santa Rosa, La Pampa, where he has been collaborating for years. He also helps in a holiday camp attended by 200 children. What Haydee never imagined was that the November 26, 2021 I was assisting a boy barely five years old who was dying in front of his own house. this boy was Lucia Dupuy. The woman who carried him in her arms was the same woman who, as the court determined on February 2, had killed him: his stepmother, Abigail Peace.

“While we were trying to revive Lucio, Abigail lazily did nothing”remembers the woman. A few hours after the termination of sentence hearing that will take place tomorrow, Friday, in the Santa Rosa court, where the sentence that Páez and Madeleine Esposito Valentithe boy’s mother, for the brutal crime, Haydee – who was a witness in the process – says she feels “calm” for what she did to try to save the 5-year-old boy with three other neighborhood residents.

“I know the one upstairs is going to help me. Now I want Lucio to rest in peace», begs.

According to the cause, on November 26, 2021 at 9:26 p.m., Páez left his house in Allan Kardec. He ran two blocks with Lucio in his arms, already dying, after brutally beating him. He arrived at the first aid room located on the corner of Garay Vivas and Núñez. There he first helped her Sebastien Mourino, a painter who lives in the neighborhood. Also collaborated elsa quintin, a retired nurse who lives next door. Then Haydee arrived.

“My house is three blocks from Lucio’s house. Across the street is the first aid room. And over there on the sidewalk we helped Lucio that night. We put him on the floor, under a tree, to try to revive it. The day it happened with Lucio, the salon was closed. That’s why we help you”. Páez and Espósito were new to the neighborhood. They had recently moved into the apartment where the boy had been murdered. To Lucio, said Haydee, “I met him that night.”

“I told Sebastián to put the child down because he was having a fit. And then my neighbor started giving him mouth to mouth, He squeezed his chest to perform CPR and nothing. I did not react. So I went to call Elsa (Quintín), my neighbor nurse,” Haydee continues. Páez, meanwhile, went to the nearby police station.

Haydee says: “The police told Páez they couldn’t take the boy to the hospital, but they told him they had called the ambulance. So I asked him again what happened. And then the story changed for me. He said he was out for five minutes instead of 10 and when he returned he found the house upside down and the child lying on the patio. Nurse Elsa performed CPR on Lucio. “Suddenly it’s as if he had breathed again. So I asked Sebastián if he could rush Lucio to the hospital. And Lady, his mother, grabbed the car and they took him took away. If we didn’t do that, Lucio would die there.”.

Lady Soria, Mourino’s mother, transferred the child in her Fiat Palio car to Evita Hospital in Santa Rosa. She was accompanied by her sons Sebastián and Páez. Soria agreed to speak with GlobeLiveMedia, however, she asked not to be photographed or filmed. the neighbor confirmed what he testified as a witness on the file. his narration matches the story of Haydee.

“My son was about to go out to dinner with my grandson and his girlfriend and suddenly he saw a girl desperately running around with a child,” Soria said.. Wife he remembers Páez telling him that “they broke in to steal and they beat Lucio”. Then the girlfriend of the boy’s mother added a gruesome omen for what would be known from the autopsy: “I think they raped him”.

Haydee remembers another detail: when they were going to take Lucio to the hospital, Abigail Páez wouldn’t get in the car. “First, I didn’t want to go up. I didn’t want to accompany them. He asked where we were going and I told him to come upstairs, they were going to the hospital. We were able to lift her and they went to Evita. The ambulance arrived half an hour later.

“Did you come to see if Lucio was beaten?

– No, we didn’t see anything. Because it was night, it was quite dark outside the living room. Also, we were desperate for the emergency and couldn’t notice anything. I thought it was a crisis. I touched his little hands, I touched his little face, and he was cold. His hair was wet and he was wearing a Boca shirt, shorts and sneakers.

– Did the police officers from the police station come to help you?

– No no. They said later that they had come, but they never approached.

“And while they were watching Lucio, what did Abigail do or say?”

“She didn’t do anything. He didn’t even ask what was going on, what was going to happen. Nothing. He stood with his arms folded, his head bowed and said nothing. What would we imagine if we didn’t know her. Later, Sebastián told me: “We had the baby’s murderer next to us. We never thought we were going to get this.

How did you learn of his death?

-Sebastián’s mother came from the hospital, she told me and we started to cry. That night, I couldn’t sleep. The next day I woke up with a severe headache and my blood pressure was sky high. And I had to go to the salon to take care of myself.

The house on Allan Kardec Street is closed and uninhabited. No one went back there after the boy died. The neighborhood also changed its attitude after the crime, at least towards Haydee. “The ward nurses got mad at me because I said the ward was closed that night. But what a defect I have,” he recalls. “I’m not going to hide anything. If I have to say something about Lucio, I will. Because you can’t hide it. The only thing I ask is that there are no more dead boys .It cannot be that now fathers and mothers kill their children. How is that possible”.

– What do you think went wrong in this case?

– Many things. Families, doctors, teachers. Also here in the neighborhood. After Lucio died, there were neighbors who said they heard screams and noises. How did nobody say anything? I want them to be in separate prisonsLet them pay for what they did. What they did to the baby is very serious. They made him suffer and that is not done with a child. I want Lucio to rest in peace.
