The Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires, through a statement, issued an alert “before the detection in the last epidemiological week of 3 cases of Chikungunya fever without travel history in the municipalities of Almirante Brown (2) and Quilmes (1).” As noted, this situation sets up “a suspected outbreak scenario.”

“Results from the National Reference Laboratory and the field survey are awaited,” they added in the letter. At the same time, they warned that “imported cases of chikungunya fever with a history of travel to Paraguay and dengue fever in 18 municipalities with the presence of the vector Aedes aegypti” have also been identified. “Of these municipalities, 15 have a history of dengue fever cases and outbreaks,” they said.
