From this Monday, February 20, the alternative route Depression: La Sierra – Rosas, in Cauca, enters into service, after passing a load test with 19 semi-trailers. He Ministry of transportation informed that the corridor will be used exclusively on days Monday and Wednesday, for heavy trailers that transport food and milk, as well as for public passenger transport service for up to 42 users from Nariño to Cauca.

It is important to take into account that on Tuesdays and Thursdays the alternative route will only be used for the transport of oxygen and gas, but in the Cauca – Nariño direction.

“The development of this alternative route included the installation of paving materials to improve the corridor, the profiling of curves with the 44 machines available in the region and the friction to avoid problems on the upper and side parts of the vehicles” , as directed by the ministry.

He Government confirmed that in the first days the authorized PTAC for the loading of this route is 43 tons for semi-trailers, in turn the Ministry announced how it will be possible to operate on alternative routes, before the closure of the Pan-American Highway.
