After a man shot at rangers at Everglades National Park in Florida on Sunday afternoon, police arrested a possible suspect.

The park reported on the shooting through a statement, in which it also indicated that “there are no injuries to regret.”

The letter does not give more details about how the attack occurred, but everything seems to indicate that the individual fired from a distance at the rangers, who dodged the attack.

The police began the search at 7:00 pm on Sunday, when authorities were alerted to a shooting, which caused the closure of the park and surrounding areas.

Likewise, the shooting alert was activated and through Twitter the authorities told visitors and residents of the Flamingo area to take refuge in a safe place, while the subject was located.

At the moment the reasons for the attack are unknown, as well as if they were directed at any of the rangers in particular.

The suspect is a 33-year-old man, whose identity was not disclosed and who was only informed that he is already in custody in a safe place.

Located ever closer to Miami due to increasing urbanization, the Everglades National Park is a huge wetland covering an area of 607,500 hectares in the extreme south of the state of Florida, United States.

It is one of the largest subtropical moors in the world and was declared a World Heritage Site, Biosphere Reserve and Wetland of International Interest.
