Colombian President Gustavo Petro celebrated the start of what he called a “second peace process” on Monday, following the suspension of arrest warrants for 19 dissident guerrillas in the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC)who will henceforth officiate as negotiators.

“A second peace process is beginning. A table will be established between the government and the central staff”, wrote the president on his Twitter account, then confirmed to the media, specifying that will negotiate with the rebels which derogated from the peace pact signed in 2016.

Since the end of last year, the government of Gustavo Petro has been negotiating for the rebels of the National Liberation Army (ELN).

Petro, the first leftist to come to power, also seeks to establish dialogue with the cartel of gulf clan and the Second Marquetaliaa faction of dissidents who signed on and then abandoned the peace process.
