During his visit to Kléber Andrade, Botafogo won with two goals over Resende, on the 10th day of the Brazil – Campeonato Carioca 2023 tournament. The visitor’s goals were scored by Carlos Alberto (49′ 1T) and Matheus Nascimento (3′ 2T) .
At minute 3 of the second stage, Matheus Nascimento lifted Botafogo’s spirits and received all the applause. Carlos Alberto filtered a ball for the striker to follow up, from the semi-circle, a superb shot at the right post of the opposing goal.
Luis Henrique had the chance to increase the lead but the post denied him the goal cry after 83 minutes of the second leg.
The party figure was Carlos Alberto. The Botafogo midfielder scored 1 goal and looked for the opposite goal with 2 shots.
Matheus Nascimento was another outstanding player. The Botafogo striker showed his best level by scoring 1 goal and shooting 4 times on the opposite goal.
It was a match with a difficult entry and a hot atmosphere, after several faults on the ground. There were several admonished: Vinicius Balotelli, JP, Léo Pedro and Khevin.
Resende manager Sandro Sargentim stopped the starting XI in a 4-5-1 formation with Jefferson in goal; Medina, Hiago, Rayne and Khevin on the defensive line; Dener, Kaique, Geovani, Léo Pedro and Bismarck in the middle; and Vinicius Balotelli in attack.
For their part, the chosen ones of Luís Ribeiro de Castro entered the field with a 4-5-1 scheme with Lucas Perri under the three sticks; JP, Víctor Cuesta, Adryelson and Hugo in defence; Tchê Tchê, Gabriel Pires, Marlon Freitas, Carlos Alberto and Victor Sá in midfield; and Matheus Nascimento in front.
Alex Gomes Stefano has been appointed as the main referee for the match at the Kléber Andrade stadium.
The next day, Resende will play at home against Audax-RJ and Botafogo will play at home against Portuguesa-RJ.
