Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is just under a month away, and in an interview with Variety (thanks, CBR.com), the film’s writers promise a different kind of fantasy adventure with some surprising decisions. More specifically, they explain how the male characters are deliberately weakened, even puny, and how the heroines have more room to shine and show what they are made of. Anything to subvert viewers’ expectations and come up with something new.

However, the decision is not based on any kind of “woke prejudice”, according to those involved, but rather on the fact that they felt it went against what is otherwise the norm in Dungeons & Dragoons. Something they found funny. The writers also singled out Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Downey Jr. as Stark when it came to talking about male heroes breaking the norm.

“Eso no fue un intento de wokeness por nuestra parte, lo juro por Dios, no lo fue. Nos gustaba que Holga fuera el matón que hace el trabajo sucio para Edgin, y no le gusta ensuciarse las manos. Protagonists”.

according to his Chris Pine, who plays the male lead, also had a lot of fun during filming and actively tried to look as weak and vulnerable as possible. Even Hugh Grant, who also appears, described how the adventuring party is a collection of losers where everyone is basically a mess.

What do you think? Do you want to see the new Dragons and Dungeons movie?
