ISTANBUL (AP) — Rescuers have found more survivors among the rubble caused by the Feb. 6 earthquake that ravaged parts of Turkey and Syria, even as the chances of finding people alive continue to dwindle.

These are the main events of Saturday related to the drama.

THREE SHITS IN HATAY

Thirteen days after the deadly earthquake, rescuers pulled three people, including a child, alive from the rubble of a building in Antioch, the capital of Hatay province.

The man, woman and child were taken to ambulances after spending 296 hours buried under the Kanatli building in the center of town, local television reported. Footage showed medics placing an IV in the arm of the man, who was lying on a stretcher.

Of the 11 provinces located in the disaster area in Turkey, Hatay is one of the most affected. As of Friday evening, the official death toll in the country stood at 39,672 people, bringing the total number of deaths in the two countries to 43,360.

THEY FOUND THE BODY OF A MISSING GHANIAN FOOTBALL PLAYER

Rescuers have found the body of Ghanaian international footballer Christian Atsu in the rubble of a building that collapsed during the earthquake, his representative announced on Saturday.

The body of the ace, who played for Hatayspor in the Turkish Super League, was among the remains of the 12-storey luxury building where he lived in Antioch.

“Atsu’s lifeless body was found under the rubble. Right now their stuff is still being taken away,” the representative, Murat Uzunmehmet, told the DHA news agency.

Atsu, 31, had previously played for Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton and Bournemouth in the English Premier League and joined Hatayspor from a Saudi club late last year.

According to Hatayspor, Atsu’s body will be repatriated to Ghana. “There are no words to describe our sadness,” the team said on Twitter.

A day after the earthquake, Atsu was reportedly rescued alive and taken to hospital, but a few days later the club announced that Atsu and sporting director Taner Savut were still missing. Savut has not yet been found.

The builder of Ronesans Rezidans, the luxury property where Atsu and Savut lived, was arrested a week ago at Istanbul airport as he was apparently trying to leave the country.
