Given the continued heavy rains, the National Institute for Civil Protection (Indeci) provided a series of recommendations to local and regional authorities, as well as to the population in general, to avoid risky situations in the event of possible overflows of rivers, floods or landslides:

– Identify in advance the Evacuation routes to high and safe areas.

– Strengthen the roofs and windows houses.

– Unplug electrical appliances.

– Review downspouts and eliminate any accumulation that could obstruct the passage of water towards the drainage of the houses.

– To establish a early warning system andn the neighborhood using whistles, bells, alarms, sirens or loudspeakers.

– Be careful of natural signs such as, for example, the increase in cloudy water, the sudden increase in water level or flow, or the approach of a loud noise.

– If necessary evacuate immediately to safe areas or assembly points.

Don’t stop or cross the canals ravines, slopes of hills or mountains or other impact areas of landslides or alluvium.

– If you don’t have time to evacuate to safe areas, practice vertical discharge: located in the upper part of the house such as roofs or upper floors.

– Participate in the rehabilitation works after the downpour
