In conversation with the media, the president of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Peru confirmed that the former president is not collaborating with the tests that must be carried out.

Pedro Castillo is not collaborating with the forensic investigations that must be carried out as part of the legal process that he is carrying out against him. This morning, Francisco Brizuela, president of the Institute of Legal Medicine, confirmed that the former president has not agreed to undergo toxicological tests.

“I have to emphasize the unrestricted respect of the people and much more of the detainees. In the case of the former president (Pedro Castillo) they have not been camouflaged doctors, they have been three forensic chemists (…) who, accompanied by a prosecutor from the illicit enrichment area, appeared in Barbadillo ”, he stated for Canal N.

“Mr. Pedro Castillo refuses to have a blood sample and a urine sample taken from him, therefore, the expertise could not have been carried out and, likewise, once the record is drawn up indicating the refusal of the man and he refuses to sign the act,” he added.

Brizuela stressed that a team of three “fully identified” forensic chemists, accompanied by a prosecutor on duty, arrived with the former president to take a blood and urine sample.

According to the authority, this was required after the request of the Public Ministry to perform “a toxicological chemical dosage” on Pedro Castillo, given the versions that “he was given some drug” when he read his last message to the nation.

“When he refuses, there is no problem, a record is drawn up. In this case, the prosecutor present has drawn up the record, the experts sign and the detainee must sign. In the case of Castillo, he also refused to sign the act, as stated in the official document,” the representative indicated.

In addition, Brizuela specified that the former head of state claimed that he was unaware of the test and therefore refused to have the samples taken.

“As I have seen the report, Mr. Castillo simply refused to the chemists who attended accompanied by the prosecutor, arguing that he did not have knowledge and that he did not authorize any blood or urine sample to be taken,” he said.

“The first day he was detained at the Prefecture, which I attended, he was given the examination that is done to all detainees: to see his physical integrity and his state of health. The former president also refused to be examined by three forensic doctors, he only allowed his blood pressure to be taken, his respiratory rate and heart rate to be seen, in which it was possible to verify that he was in good health, ”he specified. .

Something that the specialist highlighted is that “legal physicians and professionals who work in legal medicine do not act ex officio, we act at the request. And it is quite common for this test to be carried out on detainees when the operators deem it convenient (…) We cannot force the person to take the sample in any way”.

What did Pedro Castillo say in his letter?

Pedro Castillo broke his silence and wrote a letter from Diroes headquarters to mention that he had been required to take a series of blood tests and that he did not agree with it.

“Yesterday afternoon, a group of camouflaged doctors and a faceless prosecutor forced me to take a sample without my consent,” denounced the former president, who is being investigated by the Prosecutor for alleged crimes of corruption and leading a criminal organization.

“I do not rule out that this Machiavellian plan is led by the Nation’s prosecutor, the president of Congress and Mrs. Dina Boluarte,” said the letter that was released by congressman Guillermo Bermejo after his visit to Diroes.
