Tegucigalpa, February 24. Olimpia will be looking for a victory over Victoria on day nine of the Honduran Clausura tournament, which opens this Saturday with three games, to keep the lead and move further away from their escort, Olancho, who will go to Real España.

Led by Argentinian Pedro Troglio, Olimpia, from Tegucigalpa, leads the championship with 20 points, followed by Olancho, the revelation team of the tournament, at five.

The “lions” of Olimpia, the only undefeated so far in the tournament, want to make sure they get the maximum points at the mercy of Victoria, led by the Argentinian Héctor Vargas.

In the first game on Saturday, the capital’s Motagua will play the honors against Honduras Progreso, whose coach is Colombian John Jairo López.

Honduras Progreso, who have won only one game, are in a rush to add to get out of the relegation zone due to the poor performance they had in the Clausura, in which they collected only four points out of 24 possible.

In Game 2, Pedagogical University will measure Forces, which is third with 14 points, and Vida, eighth with eight points in eight games.

Pedagogical University won four, tied two and lost two, while Vida had two wins, two draws and four losses.

Olimpia, Motagua and the Pedagogical University are based in Tegucigalpa, but they cannot play in the José de la Paz Herrera National Stadium as the sports venue remains closed due to the grass change.

They will also face Sampedrano Real España tomorrow, helmed by Uruguayan Julio Rodríguez and fifth with eleven points, Olancho.

On Sunday, ninth-placed Real Sociedad will try to beat fourth-placed Marathón at home.

The game between Real Sociedad, who are still at risk of being relegated to the second division, and Marathón will be played in the city of Tocoa, in the country’s Caribbean.

Real Sociedad added six points, one win, three draws and four losses, while Marathón have 12 points.

Marathón and Real España, along with Olimpia and Motagua, are considered the four best in Honduran football. ECE
