North Korea confirmed this Thursday the successful test on the eve of a hypersonic missile, North Korean state news agency KCNA reported, the second test of this type of newly developed projectile for the country.

“The missile made a lateral movement of 120 kilometers in the flight distance of the hypersonic sliding warhead from the azimuth of the initial launch to the azimuth of the target and accurately hit a target set 700 kilometers away”, according to details collected by said medium.

The report does not give details on the velocity of the projectile.

“The test launch clearly demonstrated the control and stability of the hypersonic sliding warhead”said KCNA, who assured that the recent test confirms “the reliability of the fuel bulb system in winter weather conditions”, in apparent reference to the liquid fuel container.

Contrary to what happens with conventional missiles, which require hours of liquid fuel injection before launch, the tank of this new system it would allow the fuel to be stored for months before immediate use.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was not present at the test, the regime’s first missile test since the firing of a Submarine Ballistic Missile (SLBM) in October last year.
