The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel would have taken them in retaliation for the arrest of the wife of Nemesio Oseguera ‘el Mencho’, boss of the organization, only comparable to the Sinaloa Cartel.
Mexican authorities found at dawn this Saturday (11/20/2021) the two agents of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) kidnapped in Jalisco, in the west of the country, in retaliation for the arrest of the wife of a drug lord. The two agents, a man and a woman, appeared in Puerto Vallarta handcuffed and gagged, as the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office has just confirmed after it was published by the local press with images disseminated on social networks and the media.
“It was elements of the municipal police who went to a service who, when passing through the place, noticed that two people were kneeling, with their faces covered and with arrest rings in their hands,” explains the official statement of the Prosecutor’s Office of the state. Alleged members of organized crime kidnapped the two sailors, belonging to the Eighth Naval Zone, on Monday night when they were in the parking lot of a Zapopan shopping center, in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, waiting for a high command who was buying meal.
Both the Army and the Navy had carried out extensive search operations for four days in Jalisco and, according to the local press, its border with Nayarit. “We come from Guadalajara”, both express in a video in which security agents ask them to identify themselves. The kidnapping of the members of Semar caused national controversy because it coincided with the arrest in Zapopan of Rosalinda González, wife of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, leader of the powerful Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).
The authorities suspect, according to leaks to the press, that the kidnapping of the sailors would be related to the arrest of González, and would have been orchestrated by Laisha Michelle Oseguera González, daughter of Mencho, and her sentimental partner Christian Fernando Gutiérrez. Mencho’s wife, arrested for the operation of resources of illicit origin, was arrested in the same shopping center where the sailors were kidnapped.
El Mencho, one of the most wanted criminals in Mexico and the United States, leads the cartel with the fastest growth, expansion and one of the most violent in the country. The CJNG has already orchestrated other attacks against Mexican authorities, such as the June 2020 attack on Mexico City police chief Omar García Harfuch, where cartel gunmen fired at him in one of the wealthiest areas of the Mexican capital. , although he survived.
