With 157 new deaths and 1,938 infections registered in the last 24 hours, Mexico reached a total of 204,011 deaths and 2,249,195 infections tocumulated by COVID-19, according to the federal Ministry of Health.
However, the official death toll could be much higher, as it should be remembered that on March 28 the federal government reported in its report on the “Excess mortality” that the country had registered 294,287 deaths associated with the coronavirus until February 13, after analyzing death certificates.
According to the update of the official technical document consulted on the agency’s website, the country has 26,293 active cases, that is, people who had signs and symptoms of the disease in the last 14 days (March 21 to April 03).
Therefore, if they do not comply with health protocols, they could easily contribute to the transmission of the virus.
In that sense, Mexico City it is the entity with the highest number of active cases, followed by the State of Mexico, Guanajuato and Puebla; together they concentrate the 58% of all active cases in the country.
By contrast, Campeche, Chiapas, Nayarit and Colima They are the states with the least amount of active cases, with 89, 89, 64 and 63, respectively.
This is still reflected in the new colors of the epidemiological traffic light that came into force since last Monday and will be in force until April 11, where for the third time in a row, no state is painted in color “Red”(Maximum risk of contagion).
In color “verde”(Low risk) there are seven entities: Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Jalisco, Nayarit, Chiapas and Campeche.
In “yellow”(Moderate risk) 18 entities: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Colima, Aguascalientes, Michoacán, Guerrero, Nuevo León, Tlaxcala, Quintana Roo and Guanajuato; Sonora, Oaxaca, Morelos and Tabasco are added.
Meanwhile in “Orange”(High risk) seven remain: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Puebla, Querétaro, Yucatán, Hidalgo and Chihuahua. So far there has been no color change.
Vaccination against COVID-19
Until 4:00 p.m. this Saturday April 3 they applied 172,885 doses against COVID-19 which, when added to those supplied since December 24, give a total of 8,987,190 vaccines from different pharmaceutical companies. However, only 1,083,530 people have complete scheme.
Of that total, 6,593,257 people aged 60 years and over have been vaccinated, but only 404,481 have received the two doses they require to be protected against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
In the Health sector, they have a complete scheme 661,423 people and 213,556 have received the first application. In the educational field of Campeche, 17,626 teachers have both doses and 5,308 received the first.
The health authorities made the decision to readjust the vaccination tactic. With this, in the face of the possible arrival of a third wave of infections and with the intention of reducing its impact, the available biological resources will be used, mainly, in the Megalopolis Area composed of the Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo and Querétaro.
It must be remembered that vaccination in the other entities will not be interrupted. In addition, roadrunner brigades from other states will not be relocated to the center of the country. The only change will be to send a larger number of doses to the six states mentioned.
