At two o’clock in the afternoon of this Wednesday, the electricity supply to users in the Mexican states affected by the cuts was restored to 100%, which according to the authorities were carried out in a controlled and programmed manner to give stability to the National Electric System, reported the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) through social networks.

In total, 29 of the 32 states in Mexico suffered power cuts in part of their territories during the day on Tuesday, according to the CFE.

Initially, the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE) had alerted the population of 12 states about rotating and random outages. However, on Tuesday night the CFE updated the information and said that 29 states suffered blackouts. These would have left some 3.2 million users without electricity, mainly in the north and northeast of the country.

Actions to deal with the energy supply problem

CENACE for its part reported that this recovery is due to the entry into operation of various power plants generating CFE and independent producers of energy based on gas, coal and diesel, to which President Andrés Manuel López alluded this morning Obrador.

“The situation in Texas is serious. We are facing the problem because we are starting up plants that do not require gas, fuel oil plants, coal plants to face the emergency. And a whole planning is being carried out so that people are not left without electricity permanently, but that they can organize periodic, temporary, 30-minute blackouts, “he said.

López Obrador also said that “three liquefied gas ships have been bought and more will be bought to solve the problem.”

This Monday, 4.7 million users of the Federal Electricity Commission in northern Mexico had been left without electricity service, due to the lack of gas from Texas, as reported.

The CFE reported that due to the lack of gas supply to the northern Mexican states, the authorities decided to suspend the service in other states to avoid collapses or a major blackout during peak demand hours. For the same reason, the CFE said that it decided to apply programmed and controlled power cuts. He also insisted that there is no risk of massive blackouts.
