The Undersecretary of the United States Department of State, Wendy Sherman, met this Wednesday in the Mexican capital with the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, to discuss the next Summit of North American Leaders, to be held in December, reported the Mexican diplomat.

“I had the pleasure of receiving Wendy Sherman, Undersecretary of State of the United States. Good conversation about the bilateral relationship, the upcoming North American Summit and world geopolitics. Welcome to Mexico Wendy,” Ebrard said in a message on networks social.

Later, in a statement, the Mexican Foreign Ministry reported that at the meeting Sherman expressed greetings from Secretary Antony Blinken and added that the State Department “celebrates being allies of Mexico,” especially because the great relationship between the two countries fosters better jobs, prosperity and security for the people of America.

In addition, Undersecretary Sherman agreed with Ebrard’s vision “on a new approach to migration between Mexico and the United States that seeks to open other channels for more humane mobility in North America.”

Meanwhile, the US State Department said that at the meeting Sherman and Ebrard “discussed cooperation to strengthen the prosperity and security of North America.”

In addition, implement the commitments made in the High-Level Security and Economic Dialogues between both countries and laid the foundations for the North American Leaders Summit.

They also discussed strengthening North American supply chains and deepened collaboration to address the global threat of synthetic drugs, as well as working on safe and orderly migration in the region.

Previously, Sherman, who will complete a two-day visit, attended the National Palace where she was accompanied by the United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar.

In addition to the meeting with Ebrard, Sherman’s agenda includes meetings with the Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, and the Secretary of the Economy, Raquel Buenrostro.
