Madrid, Jan 19 – Health brings together the communities this Wednesday to analyze the evolution of the pandemic and vaccination, after the first drop in the incidence of the sixth wave of covid was registered on Tuesday, which could confirm that this week the peak of infections for this period has been reached.
According to the latest data update on Tuesday, transmission by covid fell 91 points, to 3,306 cases, with a decrease in the number of infections since Monday (94,472 new positives), although the pressure on the plant (15.1%) and in the intensive care units of hospitals (23.6%) he barely manages to let off steam by registering daily almost the same discharges (2,505) as admissions (2,410) of patients.
These data could confirm that the sixth wave, which has left almost 3 million infections in just a month and a half, due to the omicron variant, would have peaked. However, we will have to wait since this Tuesday Murcia and Castilla La Mancha have not reported new infections in the last 24 hours.
In any case, at the Interterritorial Health Council this Wednesday, Health and the communities will address the change in trend of the pandemic that the Basque Country Minister, Gotzone Sagardui, has confirmed, after a “slow decline” in the epidemiological evolution, as Galicia and the Valencian Community have also notified.
In the Valencian Community, its president Ximo Puig has also observed that this week the contagion ceiling can be given but with caution he has appealed to the “maximum self-demand in mask, vaccination, distance and ventilation”.
Although the communities will transfer the new scenario that is coming to Health, others, such as Catalonia, address the restrictions and, for the moment, only eliminate the night curfew, which will decline from midnight from Thursday to Friday.
On the contrary, the capacity, the meeting limit, the closure of nightlife and the requirement of a covid certificate continue.
In the last Interterritorial Council, the Ministry of Health was determined to take steps towards a change in the covid counting and analysis system in an effort to “flu” the coronavirus by understanding that the pandemic was entering a “new state” and resources had to be adapted.
