On April 25, in a district north of Marseille, a 27-year-old young man allegedly shot himself, accidentally, with a weapon he had just found according to his first statements. Hospitalized, his days are not in danger.
He reportedly told police that he found a gun on the ground. By handling it with awkwardness, the blow would have gone off on its own according to his words, injuring him in the genital area.
Quickly taken care of by the emergency services, he was hospitalized in the North hospital, his vital prognosis was not engaged according to information from BFMTV.
An open investigation
An investigation has been opened and must clarify several points, including that of determining the owner of the firearm. This was not found, weakening the testimony of the victim, especially since the young man would not have really provided any convincing evidence on the circumstances of his discovery of the firearm.
In Marseille, arms trafficking has developed in recent years, to the rhythm of the settling of scores that regularly besets the city. In the summer of 2021, the mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan had also asked that the fight against arms trafficking become a priority for the State. For the time being, the shootings continue to resonate in the heart of the cities of Marseille.
