On Sunday, during the 38th edition of the Seville Marathon, Peruvian Cristian Simeón Pacheco, Bolivian Héctor Garibay, Chilean Carlos Díaz del Río, and Uruguayan Cristian Zamora broke their respective national records over the distance of 42 kilometers and 195 meters.

Cristian Simeón Pacheco, who finished in 11th place, set a time of 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 38 seconds, breaking the old Peruvian record held by Raúl Pacheco, which was established in 2h11:01 at the Rotterdam Marathon in 1995.

Héctor Garibay, who finished in 13th place, achieved a score of 2:07:44, lowering his own Bolivian national record he set in 2022 by more than a minute at the Seville Marathon (2h09:08).

Carlos Díaz del Río, who was running his first marathon, successfully debuted in the distance by finishing in 26th place with a time of 2:10:26, breaking the Chilean record held by Omar Aguilar since 1988, when he finished the Rotterdam Marathon in 2:12:19.

The emotional highlight was provided by Uruguayan Cristian Zamora, who finished in 32nd place, improving the national record by just one second (2h11:02 vs. 2h11:03) that was set last year in Seville by Nicolás Cuestas, who also participated in the race but did not finish the marathon.
