On date 11 of the Brazil – Carioca Championship 2023 tournament, Flamengo and Fluminense met at the Maracanã and the match ended 1-2 for the visit. The goal of the match for the locals was scored by Cebolinha (18′ 1T). While the away goals were scored by Germán Cano (7′ 2T) and Gabriel Pirani (39′ 2T).

In the 18th minute of the first leg, Cebolinha lifted the spirits of Flamengo and received all the applause. The midfielder escaped the mark on the left flank and, in the large area, shot with certainty at the left post, with no chance for goalkeeper Fábio Lopes Maciel.

The party figure was Gabriel Pirani. The Fluminense midfielder scored 1 goal.

Germán Cano was another of the outstanding players. The Fluminense striker showed his best level by scoring 1 goal and shooting 4 times on the opposite goal.

It was a heated duel, with many game interruptions and shortened by faults. The warnings were numerous: Gabriel Barbosa, Fernando Diniz, Jhon Arias, Matheus Cunha, Vítor Pereira, Pablo, Gérson, Arturo Vidal and Lima. Felipe Melo was sent off for a direct red card in the 89th minute of the second half.

Flamengo strategist Vítor de Oliveira Lopes Pereira lined up the starting XI with a 3-5-2 formation with Matheus Cunha on the arc; Pablo, Rodrigo Caio and Leo Pereira in the defensive line; Matheuzinho, Igor, Gerson, Cebolinha and Giorgian De Arrascaeta in midfield; and Matheus França and Gabriel Barbosa in attack.

For their part, the elected officials of Fernando Diniz Silva entered the field with a 4-3-3 scheme with Fábio under the three sticks; Samuel Xavier, Nino, David Braz and Alexsander in defense; André Trindade, Mattheus Martinelli and Paulo Ganso in midfield; and Jhon Arias, Germán Cano and Keno ahead.

The judge chosen to conduct the match at the Maracanã was Grazianni Maciel Rocha.
