Disappearance of Lucas Escalante: they kidnapped a police mobile to search for traces of the young man

A Buenos Aires Provincial Police cell phone was removed this Wednesday in connection with the Lautaro Morello crime case and the disappearance of his friend Lucas Escalantewhich happened after the two left Florencio Varela together on December 9, to be subjected to expertise in search of traces of interest in the investigation.

As reported telamthe Argentine federal police seized a mobile phone used “exclusively” by Chief Commissioner Francisco Centurión, father and uncle of Cristian and Maximiliano Centuriónthe two detained on remand for the case.

As we have learned, the objective is that this vehicle will be submitted next Friday to a series of expertises by PFA experts in search of traces of interest for the investigation.

Investigators last week searched a tosquera near the under-construction Buen Ayre Highway in search of the missing young man, but the results were negative.

While on March 9, three months after the event, relatives, friends and neighbors of Escalante organized a new march in the courts of Quilmes to demand the “appearance alive” of Lucas.

For their part, the two detainees were prosecuted last January by the Judge of guarantees of Florencio Varela, Julián Busteroswho accused them of “co-authors” of the crime of “qualified homicide by cruelty and treason”.

However, the defense of the two detainees has already appealed against these preventive detentions, so the Appeals and Guarantees Chamber will now have to decide whether it gives rise to the detainees’ request or whether they remain in prison.

It should be noted that the first prosecutor who had the case was Mariana Dongiovanni, of the decentralized UFI 2 of Florencio Varela, who later asked to be excused from the case because she considered that she had received “disqualifications constants” from the relatives of the victims.

After that, her place was replaced by the fair prosecutor Bárbara Velasco, who also apologized for the case since she said that she had collaborated with the aforementioned commissioner in previous cases, which is why the investigation momentarily passed into the hands of prosecutor Ichazo. .

The latter was in charge of the file until the Prosecutor Martin Condé, from UFI 3 in Quilmes, returned from license on February 1st. Conde also asked on February 6 to be excused from the case by letter for not being able to be objective after receiving “slanderous and offensive” comments from the Morello family’s lawyer, Carlos Diéguez, and this request was accepted by Judge Busteros.

On the other hand, at the request of the Attorney General of the Province of Buenos Aires, the Buenos Aires police have been removed from the investigation and the Homicide Division of the PFA is acting in its place.

Recall that Escalante was last seen on Friday, December 9 in the city of Bosques, match of Florencio Varela, when he went to pick up Morello to go out to celebrate the victory of the Argentine national team against the Netherlands in Qatar World Cup semi-finals in a BMW car that caught fire the following day.

Morello’s half-charred body was found around 9:30 p.m. on December 15 next to the Buen Ayre highway under construction, in Guernica, President Perón’s party, and nothing is known of Escalante yet.

Under such circumstances, the Centurión were arrested, who were linked to the case after the analysis of security cameras and cellphone antennas.

And in a one-camera shoot of a Florencio Varela gas station, Cristian Centurión is seen around 12:30 a.m. on December 10 loading gasoline into a white canister that is believed to have been used to incinerate the Lucas’ car and Lautaro’s corpse.

In this context, the national government offers 4,000,000 pesos as a reward for those who provide data that allows us to know where Lucas is.
