The Government of the Czech Republic today announced a large-scale expulsion of diplomats from Russia, in a new reaction to the accusations that Russian agents participated in actions of sabotage in Czech territory and that it has triggered the tension between the two countries.

“We put a ceiling on the number of Russian diplomats in the Czech Republic, which is equal to the number of our diplomats in Moscow “, Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek announced in a televised statement in which he did not specify the number of Russian officials affected.

This measure comes at the expiration of the ultimatum given by Prague to Moscow to reverse the order to leave 20 workers of the Czech diplomatic representation in Moscow, in retaliation for a previous expulsion of Russian diplomats.
