The government has declared an emergency in 233 districts across the country due to heavy rains.

The government has declared a state of emergency in 233 districts across the country due to the intense rainy which occur due to the indirect influence of the Cyclone Yaku. Of these, five belong to the metropolis of Lima, where Senamhi has already predicted that rainfall of medium intensity will be recorded from Sunday March 12 to Tuesday March 14.

According to the executive’s emergency declaration document, these five districts of the capital that have been considered are Chaclacayo, Commas, San Martin de Porres, carabayllo there Ate. Jurisdictions concerned must take appropriate measures to reduce the existing risk due to the impact of rain.

In the north of Lima, Carabayllo and Comas were declared in emergency because they have structures which are not necessarily made of noble material and which could end up collapsing under the effect of strong forces precipitation. In addition, there are a significant number of properties located on top of the hills.

San Martín de Porres also has structures that could give way due to their age and lack of technical analysis when constructing the buildings. Apart from the fact that several rivers cross this jurisdiction and risk overflowing.

In western Lima, Chaclacayo and Ate are included in this emergency declaration due to the presence of broken which risk being activated, causing huaicos or landslides that could affect homes in the area.

Senamhi experts have previously warned that thatched houses will be hit the hardest.

According senamhiSo far, seven rivers remain at risk due to increased flow. Three of them are at the orange alert level, while one is at the level Red alert.

by the station Hydrological Naranjito, In the district of Jamalca, a level of 4.9 m3/s was recorded, placing it at the level of orange hazard. The places that could be affected by a possible overflow of water are:
