Representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Colombia spoke about it.

The representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Colombia, Gina Tambini, assured that next week the first vaccines from the pharmaceutical company AstraZeca could begin to arrive in Colombia.

“We hope that in the next few weeks the vaccines from the Astrazeneca laboratory will also begin to arrive, they have already been assigned, the minister has received a letter with this final amount , “he said, in an interview with RCN Radio .

The delegate of the international organization explained that the idea is that in the next three months more than two million doses from the AstreZeneca laboratory will be distributed throughout the country , since the COVAX mechanism has a wide portfolio of vaccines.

Indeed, the COVAX program, created by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the GAVI Vaccine Alliance to distribute anticovid vaccines worldwide, will send 26 million vaccines to Latin American countries, mainly from AstraZeneca, between March and May.

According to the distribution list published Tuesday by GAVI,18 Latin American countries are among the 142 that will receive the first 237 million doses that COVAX will manage during the next three months .

Colombia, which this Monday was the first country in the region to receive a batch of these vaccines, will receive more than two million doses between now and May .

It should be remembered that the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford was the first whose trials were reviewed by a scientific journal . The Lancet  publication  confirmed that this biological is effective in an average of 70%.
