Colombia reported this Wednesday another 1,581 new infections and 44 deaths from coronavirus, figures that accumulate 4,945,203 infections and 126,006 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, reported the Ministry of Health.
The Andean country’s health authorities said that the highest amounts of infections were recorded in Antioquia (362), Atlántico (261), Bogotá (167), Valle del Cauca (116), Magdalena (108), Bolívar (73) and Norte Santander (56).
While the deaths, of which 39 occurred in previous days, were reported in Antioquia and Valle del Cauca (10); North of Santander and Bolívar (3); Caldas, Cundinamarca, Nariño, Quindío and Santander (2).
Of the total confirmed cases in the country, of which 18,915 remain active, the majority have been notified in Bogotá (1,448,363), Antioquia (743,613), Valle del Cauca (405,840), Atlántico (318,570), Cundinamarca (263,366) and Santander (225,073).
The Ministry of Health also reported that 166,528 vaccines were applied on Monday, of which 62,608 correspond to second doses and 1,517 to the single dose from the pharmaceutical company Janssen.
In total, the country’s health authorities have applied 38,683.13 serums and with them 16,223,761 people have received the complete vaccination scheme, while another 22,459,373 have only received the first dose.
In addition, today 47,411 diagnostic samples were processed, of which 19,402 were PCR-type and 28,009 were antigens, for a total of 25.18 million tests performed.
OTHER 339,300 DOSES OF PFIZER VACCINES ARRIVE
Colombia Today received a new batch of 339,300 doses of vaccines against covid-19, from the Pfizer laboratory. With these, the country has so far received 45,137,804 doses of sera against the coronavirus.
The chief of staff of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Germán Escobar, said that “with this we fulfill 93% of the contract with this pharmaceutical company.”
He explained that the doses that arrived this Wednesday will be used to complete schedules and start new vaccination schedules.
Likewise, the official recalled that as of October 1, the application of reinforcement doses will begin, “which will be applied with the batches that will arrive soon.”
