The Chancellor would have wanted to take a free test today, but is still positive. The quarantine will continue at least until the weekend.

Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) must remain in home quarantine. Because the head of government also tested “positive” in today’s PCR test, as his spokesman announced in the evening. Nehammer is therefore symptom-free, fully able to work and will keep his appointments in the coming days via video or telephone conferences.

Nehammer will take part in tomorrow’s meeting of the ÖVP parliamentary club, which will last several hours, via video. On the advice of his doctors, the next PCR tests will be carried out by the Chancellor at the weekend.

“I have no noticeable symptoms, no loss of taste or smell, I am fully able to work and I am happy that I have been vaccinated three times,” says Nehammer.

“I would have been very happy to see my family today and to be able to physically resume my work, unfortunately my test result today does not allow for either.”
