Within the framework of the security council that took place in the city of Medellín to guarantee the security of Colombians on election day this Sunday, authorities announced two seizures of money important events that occurred in recent days, given the electoral situation It is not ruled out that the money could have been used to commit electoral crimes.

The police officer informed the media at the press conference that took place after the meeting of the authorities that the first seizures had already been made in the days prior to the second round of the presidential elections.

The first case, where a man was found with a large sum of money, occurred in the city of Santa Marta. In the traffic of a vehicle that he stopped the National Police found a man with $530 million pesos that he was carrying with him, When the subject was rebuked by the authorities, he could not give a reason for the origin of the money, which is why he was arrested by the uniformed men.

After complaints received by the authorities in previous days, it is presumed that this money could belong to the criminal organization Los Pachenca, also known in the north of the country as the Self-Defense Conquerors of the Sierra.

Given this seizure, the director of the Police stated: “The preliminary information is that this money could belong to the criminal organization ‘Los Pachenca’, we are determining the reason for that money in cash a week before the elections.”

The other case also occurred on the roads of the country, at kilometer 72 of the highway that connects Bogotá with Villevicencio, a person was intercepted by uniformed Police officers with the sum of $175 million pesos in cash that he had in his possession. The authorities were able to confirm that the individual was heading to the region of San José del Guaviare and was surprised while traveling on an interdepartmental transport bus.

The Minister of the Interior also spoke about the demonstrations that may take place on election day: “In Medellin there is clear information about invitations to demonstrations, invitations to concentrations and that we hope that if they happen, they will be done with absolute adherence to the law and without transgressing rights or putting election day at risk,” said the minister.

The authorities guarantee the safety of Colombians for the second round

It is expected that during this day, June 16, the Cybersecurity Command Post will be installed and join the Command Post of the General Directorate that is already working with the objective of maintaining public order and, prevent electoral crimes in the framework of presidential elections. The Command Post will be completed on election day.
