Another day of chaos in the city of Buenos Aires: the piqueteros cut off the 9 de Julio highway

Members of the Piquete unit block the intersection of 9 de Julio and Corrientes avenues at 10 a.m. in protest against the 160,000 victims in the Potenciar Trabajo programand partially affect traffic in the obelisk area.

The mobilizations against this government measure, carried out by the Minister of Social Development, Victoria Tolosa Paz, are also reproduced in the main cities of the country with assemblies where the next actions will be decided if the situation is not reversed.

In Capital of Cordoba -in Plaza Vélez Sarsfield- is the leader of the Polo Obrero, Edward Belliboni, harshly accused by the Minister.

Belliboni advanced to GlobeLiveMedia that the proposals to fight against the adjustment measures in the social plans that arise in the assemblies, will be debated and voted on in Piquetero National Plenary to be held on March 3 in Plaza de Mayo and in front of Casa Rosada.

Before noon, Piquetera’s unit should carry out a press conference at the Obelisk in Buenos Aires, for which a total cut is planned in these strategic axes.

During the act, the concentration of the 3,000 piquetero delegates who will land in the Plaza de Mayo for the debate on the “new plan of struggle” will be announced.

“We will continue the fight against the Tolosa Paz adjustment plan linked to the collapse of social programs; with the lack of frequentation of soup kitchens; with the lack of delivery of tools and with the need to increase in social programs devastated by inflation that the government cannot stop,” Belliboni listed.

The organizations of the Piquetero Unit claim to have validated almost all those who are organized in the more than 35 organizations that are part of it. But there are cases in our own spaces which had enormous difficulties due to the complexity of the system, a virtual system that even asked for a facial validation that was not easy to perform, and that did not provide proof of the procedure performed. There are tens of thousands of workers who are not organized or who live in areas without internet or electricity, the minister knows this and has not taken the decision to reach them,” they explained.

The last “camp for an indefinite period” carried out by the Piquetera Unit on Avenida 9 de Julio, in front of the historic building with the image of Evita, it only lasted 20 hours. And it was by decision of the management and not by action of the municipal police or a court order to clean up the public space.

The picketers know that the entourage of Tolosa Paz interpreted the dismantling of the tents at that time as a triumph for the head of the social ministry, who until now has never closed the doors to dialogue. In fact, his second and third lines listened to requests and promised solutions.
