‘Another achievement of the 4T’: Stepehn Colbert mocked AMLO for featuring photo of alleged aluxe

On February 25, the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), launched a singular publication on its social networks: it is a photo in which a luxuriousa kind of goblin that is part of the worldview of the Mayan culture in Mexico.

The image has reached such a scale that it has crossed the border, because recently, and since UNITED STATEScomedian and presenter The late show, Stephane Colbert dedicated a mention to the Mexican Federal President.

During his show, the TV presenter mocked the Chief Executive, who with references to “The Lord of the Rings” (epic fantasy novel and of which there are films), ironized the publication of the president.

“The President of Mexico posted a picture of what he claims to be an elf this weekend, that’s great news. I thought all the elves stayed Valinor (fictional territory) at the end of the film. Following your comment, Stephane Colbert presented a video edited for the occasion, the same in which the president would have addressed a message to the public about the sighting of the aluxe.

The montage of the audiovisual material opens with the flag of Mexico being waved, later López Obrador can be seen speaking in front of the camera and supposedly recounting the encounter with the leprechaun, who, according to the contents of the comedy, would have rummaged through the garbage and also kissed the chef.

“He kissed me with his teeth and I think his magic happened to me,” says the narrating voice in the video.

The presenter’s content quickly transcended and was picked up from Mexico. In many cases, it was members of the opposition to the current government who lashed out at the Tabasco man because of his mention on the show.

This is the case of the deputy of the National Action Party (PAN), Javier Lozano and the political scientist Denise Dresserwho dedicated sour comments.

As the former PAN lawmaker called the president a “global disgrace,” the writer mockingly wrote:

“And in other news that puts us in the global spotlight, here’s the political satirist/comedian Stephane Colbert analyzing López Obrador and his announcement of the “aluxe” of the Maya Train”, he underlined accompanied by laughter in the text.

Meanwhile, figures such as former President Felipe Calderon they limited themselves to sharing the video in which the commentator makes fun of the situation. The publication taken up by the politician was accompanied by the text: “Another 4T realization… dating from Stephen Colbert.”

According to information collected by the National Institute of Indigenous Languagesin the Mayan culture there is a legend that when the gods created the beings that inhabit the earth, they left behind very small incomplete creatures: these are the alux.

It should be added that the Mayan culture is strongly present in the south-east of the country, a region recently visited by the head of the federal executive within the framework of the supervision of the construction of the Mayan trend. The photo shared in the official accounts of the president was presented by an engineer who works in the works area, according to López Obrador.

In the image captured at night and with very little clarity, a shadow is seen on a tree for which there is no clear explanation.
