The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) took a stand regarding the congregation that took place on February 26 in defense of the National Electoral Institute (INE).

During his morning conference on Monday 27, the president made a series of remarks, among which he underlined the power to convene the opposition.

In this regard, the President said that “they need to move more people” and added that in view of the turnout at the last demonstration — during which the attendance of nearly 90,000 people was estimated in the Zócalo de Mexico—”they have the potential”.

Likewise, he called on critics of his current administration not to stop participating or mobilizing. However, and in this context, the President announced that they have not yet reached his party’s convening capacity, so in this sense he warned:

“It takes a lot of effort, they fill the Basement, well, yes, but to get a change, we filled it 60 times, and we not only filled it, we overflowed, it was one of the biggest demonstrations that took place in the country’s history. Watch what will happen next. March 18That’s why I would tell them to cheer up,” he said.

Remember that on this date, the oil export, reason why President López Obrador had announced (already since the end of January) that a massive act will take place in the Constitution Square.

According to what the President expressed on January 25, within the framework of this event, a “party” will be organized for the rescue of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

In this context, the native of Tabasco explained that a concert will be given and asked the opposition bloc “for an apology”, as he claimed that said group “is not comfortable with these dates”. .

“It will be a great act, everyone is invited. We have to defend our sovereignty, defend the oil and electricity industry and also we are going to invite our singers, those who love people, people. It’s gonna be a party because we saved Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission,” he added.
