President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) spoke out against the initiative of members of Congress Lindsey Graham and John Neely Kennedy which proposes the intervention of United States Army (UNITED STATES) in Mexico to combat fentanyl trafficking.

In his morning conference, the chief executive disapproved of the proposed bill before the US Congress on March 8, amid the bright days that the one proposed by politicians Dan Crenshaw and Michael Walts received last January. Both bills crossed out by AMLO as “an attempt at interventionism”.

It was before the last initiative that Andrés Manuel endorsed his rejection and threw a ultimatum towards any member of Congress or politician of the neighboring nation with the aim of encouraging them to “change their attitude” concerning the fight against the sale and distribution of narcotics in the United States.

“For once, we have fixed a position. We are not going to allow any foreign government to intervene, much less the entry of the armed forces”, condemned the man from Tabasco from the National Palace and informed that his government would commit an information campaign towards compatriots and actions undertaken by Mexico against drug trafficking.

“Let them know what we are doing in Mexico and how this initiative by the Republicans, in addition to being irresponsible, is an offense against the Mexican people; a lack of respect for our independence and sovereignty.

However, and in the same vein, López Obrador has threatened American politicians indicating that with said information campaign, it would also seek remove votes from the republican party which encourages practices, described as interventionist, for electoral and propaganda purposes.

To this, the man from Tabasco cut his warning short, pointing to the said political formation as “little interference, inhumane, hypocritical and corrupt”: “What this senator said yesterday we don’t admit it. Mexico is respected, we are not an American protectorate, nor a colony. (…) We don’t take orders from anyone”.

“If they don’t change their attitude and think that they are going to use Mexico for propaganda, electoral and political purposes, we We will call not to vote for this party because it is interventionist, inhumane, hypocritical and corrupt”.

“They do it for propaganda purposes. They’ve already caught the fentanyl thing that “is Mexico’s responsibility.” Here, we do not produce fentanyl and we have no consumption. And we are very sorry for what is happening in the United States, ”he asserted and questioned the performance of the American government against the drug which, in just one year, claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people.
