The Afghan Taliban government has ordered airlines not to allow boarding of women who are not accompanied by a male relative. Anonymous sources of the same airlines involved made it known. The ministry denied having issued a directive on the subject but very clear indications were law by the AFP agency and several women said they had not been able to leave in recent days.
High schools forbidden to women
The further restriction on the freedom of Afghan women comes a few days after the decision to keep high schools closed for female students immediately after allowing them to reopen. The girls had not been to school since last August, when the Taliban returned to power after the end of the international military mission in Afghanistan.
