A plastic recycling factory suffered a violent fire, generating a thick cloud of smoke which alerted the inhabitants of the district, forcing the mobilization of relief.

This Tuesday at noon, an intense fire was reported in a disposable products factory, La Reyma, in the industrial zone of Xalostoc, in the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico.

The Civil Protection Coordination of the State of Mexico clarified that the fire is inside the factory located in La Laguna Street, Colonia El Cardonal Xalostoc, municipality of Ecatepec, but the emergency forces of the state are working on the spot.

For this reason, the authorities have asked the population to avoid the area and allow free passage to emergency vehicles.

Fernando Vilchis, municipal president of Ecatepec, as well as the fire chief, clarified that the fire started in a warehouse area, where a polymer used in the manufacture of Styrofoam was stored.

The flames spread over an area of ​​2,000 square meters, but the crew of 60 firefighters managed to bring the flames under control. It is expected that during the afternoon hours, removal work will be carried out at the facilities.

The column of smoke is visible from the center of Mexico City, while the Civil Protection Coordination of the State of Mexico reported that firefighters from the Gustavo A. Madero Delegation and the Municipality of Tlalnepantla went to the site .

The emergency services of neighboring towns also came to control the incident, the flames of which rose several tens of meters above the plant facilities, which is why a safety perimeter was established, while the locals are waiting.

It should be noted that this Monday, February 27, the firefighters of Ecatepec and the civil protection personnel demonstrated to demand more means, which is why the local emergency services had to go this Tuesday to bring aid to the industrial zone of Xalostoc.

Until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the authorities did not report any injuries due to the fire. At the same time, army personnel were also present in the area.
