Madrid, April 17. Spanish police dismantled a network accused of forcing women into prostitution that they recruited in Colombia and Venezuela on social networks, in an operation in which five of the victims were freed and seven people arrested.

As police reported on Monday, the arrests took place in Madrid and Orense (northwest), where these women were sexually exploited in a shelter, and the detainees are accused of crimes such as human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The operation began when the police detected “a criminal organization of Colombian origin” which captured the victims “through social networks or through a direct contact who knew their situation of vulnerability and economic need”, a- he detailed in a press release.

“They convinced them to come to Spain, informing them how they should act at the airport to avoid detection, providing them with the necessary documents and money, without arousing suspicion at the border,” said he added.

Later, they were told that they had incurred an alleged debt of around 3,000 euros which they had to repay by prostituting themselves “in a dating apartment” in Orense, according to the press release.

“They had to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, they couldn’t refuse any service, they received a very small part of the benefits, since all the money earned was taken from them to settle their debt and they couldn’t go out. from the house, only they were escorted out in case they were going to perform a service outside the home,” police said.

The operation included several searches during which more than 18,000 euros in cash, narcotics, two mobile phones and various documents were seized. ECE
