A man died this morning after falling into a well more than 12 meters deep. The tragic event happened at the intersection of Siciliano and Mayor Olivero streets, in the city of Buenos Aires Banfield.
It all happened around 3 a.m. when a man in his fifties who was passing through the area collapsed into a huge hole almost 3 meters in diameter, which was filled with water and surrounded by white and red wooden palisades.
A call from a vecino dio alerted to the service of emergencias, that quickly communicated with the Bomberos Voluntarios of Lomas de Zamora, quienes legaron al lugar y, tras una intensa tarea de rescate, finding the death of the man and iniciaron the pertinent actions to withdraw the body.
The victim’s body was removed before 7 a.m. and will be moved to the forensic morgue, where an autopsy will be performed to move the case forward and determine what condition the man was in before his fall.

“We received a call through the monitoring of the Municipality of Lomas, indicating that a person had apparently fallen into a well of an AYSA project located in Siciliano and Mayor Olivero streets, in the town of Banfield. The first team moved immediately, and when they arrived, they found the well full of water, because it was a working structure and it was open,” he said. Gustavo Liuzzifire chief of Lomas de Zamora, in dialogue with NT.
“First of all, by means of a submersible pump, the water which was very cloudy begins to be evacuated. Within minutes we were able to get an indication that we had been able to locate the body. Once we were able to remove as much water as possible and the area was safe, we found that the victim was dead. We went down with an anchor system with an overhead stretcher, we were able to remove the body and hand it over to police personnel,” he said.
Additionally, Liuzzi provided details on the state of the hole: “The well was completely fenced off, the area was under construction, in the neighborhood we must have about 6 or 7 blocks of work they are doing. Everything was lit. How the person fell and what was the reason, we do not know.
“The first call that was received was from a person who was communicating on a cell phone and said they saw someone fall into the well,” he said.
Now the cause has been tagged as a cause of death investigation.
