According to information obtained by citytvthe three members of the family were mobilizing on motorbikes when, apparently, the driver of the vehicle entered the lane they were traveling in, crushing all three of them on the spot.
In the midst of the crash, according to reports, José Buitrago, the children’s father, dead instantlywhile his son and daughter were seriously injured for which they had to be transferred to the Villavicencio Regional Hospital.
“In the accident, my husband died and my two children were seriously injured. In a video shared on GlobeLiveMedia, The mother of the little ones reiterated that the health situation of the two is serious. One of them needs a transplantation and, to date, according to him, the EPS has not given them permission to perform the respective surgeries.
“I need urgent support from the EPS, to authorize the operation. Otherwise we’re going to have to amputate the small leg. No one gave me an answer, I’m a low income woman, I don’t even have money to eat”said Mariluz Cubillos.

This was announced by the Observatory on February 17, when it revealed that in January of this year the number of road accidents in Colombia had increased, registering a figure of 618 people diedwhich represents an increase of 8.2% compared to January 2022.
“In particular, motorcyclists account for the greatest number of deaths in road accidents, because 371 of them lost their lives on the tracks during the first month of the year. It should be noted that approximately 40% of these deaths can be associated with the lack of experience and expertise of the drivers at the time of the road accident”, explained the entity.
Concerning the second road actor most affected by road accidents, the Observatory’s report indicates that it is the pedestrianswhich represent 21% of the deaths in the country’s road corridors, since 129 of them were crushed.
