“In particular, motorcyclists account for the greatest number of deaths in road accidents, because 371 of them lost their lives on the tracks during the first month of the year. It should be noted that approximately 40% of these deaths can be associated with the lack of experience and expertise of the drivers at the time of the road accident”, explained the entity.

Concerning the second road actor most affected by road accidents, the Observatory’s report indicates that it is the pedestrianswhich represent 21% of the deaths in the country’s road corridors, since 129 of them were crushed.

“We have determined that much of the loss on the tracks is the speedingwith a considerable increase in road accidents, that is why today the call of the National Road Safety Agency is to respect the speed limits in the country, to be aware and to have empathy with other road actors”concluded the technical director of the Observatory of the National Road Safety Agency, Jasson Cruz Villamil.
