A false shooting alarm at Dadeland Mall in Miami has caused panic among visitors

The authorities of MiamiDadein Florida (southern United States), three suspects were arrested this Saturday for theft in the Dadeland shopping center in Kendall, during a false fire alarm inside the facilities of the shopping complex which caused panic among visitors.

Given reports of suspected shootings, authorities conducted a response operation in the area with SWAT officers, several police patrols and ambulances.

The incident is said to have been generated following a discussion in the vicinity of the Macy’s store located inside the mall. It is presumed that the shouting and running of people to get away from the area generated panic in the premises.

Amid the confusion, authorities began evacuation of the busy mall and established its temporary closure.

“We are aware of reports of a suspected active shooter at Dadeland Shopping Centre. However, we dismiss these reports. Our investigations focus on a theft inside the Dadeland Mall facilities. As always, we remind our residents to remain vigilant. If you observe suspicious activity, report it immediately to authorities,” Miami Dade Police said on their Twitter account.

As a safety precaution, they urged all residents and visitors to the county to stay away from the Dadeland Mall area.

Everyone inside the mall during the incident was evacuated and sent to different shelter areas.

So far, the identity of those apprehended by the police is unknown. The reasons for the altercation and details of the theft at the facilities have also not been officially reported.
